Student Placement

ICSS does welcome and fully supports students on placements from various colleges from students enrolled in DSW, SSW, CYW or PSW programs.

Student placements offer students a unique opportunity to apply their classroom learning in real life situations under the supervision of a qualified and experienced Residential Support Workers and Residential Supervisors.

Student placements help students to integrate their theoretical learning into the complexity of workplace practice in a planned, structured and reflective way.

A student placement helps students to: gain a realistic job preview, develop confidence in themselves and their abilities , provides the opportunity to explore and expand their knowledge and also allow students gain opportunities to develop their processes of reasoning, evaluating and communicating ideas and information.

ICSS feels that our student placement program has been very successful, with a number of students securing positions at the conclusion of the placement semester.  Here are a few comments from Algonquin College's Developmental Services Worker program:

"It has been a pleasure working with an agency that's foundation is based on teamwork and promoting a quality of life to participants within the agency."

"I would like to thank the residents for teaching me very valuable lessons such as the quality of life, patience and understanding.  I felt like I was part of the team and my help was valued."

"I truly hope ICSS knows how much your hospitality is appreciated by DSW students and the faculty of Algonquin College"
