COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION WORKER Community Connections
Full time Positions - starts at $18.66 an hour

       

 

ICSS is currently looking for Community Participation Worker(s) at our Community Connections Program. Program provide case management, outreach and advocacy services and care planning to individuals who have: a developmental delay, physical disabilities, a dual diagnosis and/or challenging behaviours. Community Connection which provides training to both adults and youth with disabilities within various settings, including the home and community, so each individual may achieve the maximum level of independence possible. Programming includes planning, implementing and evaluating recreation, social, educational, vocational and life skills programs for the purpose of providing meaningful programs to people with a developmental disability and enabling them to attain their maximum physical, social, and mental well-being.


Shifts consist of a scheduled rotation with mainly 8 hour shifts, including days/evenings/weekends


Educational/

Availability

Requirements

  • >DSW, CYW or SSW or 2 years’ experience in the field working with individuals
          with developmental delays and physical disabilities.

     

  • >Must have CPR/First Aid/CPI training. 

  •  

Experience

Requirements

  • >Experience and ability to deal with behavioural situations.
     

  • >Must be willing to provide a high level of personal care to participants. 

  • >Experience working with people with developmental disabilities. 

  • > Experience working with individuals who have aggressive behaviours. 

  • > Candidates must have a proven track record in the areas of support provision and
          positive, professional relationships with community partners and families.
     

  • > Ability to plan, organize and execute programs and outings for the residents 

  • > Written communication skills to complete forms/reports. 

  • > Effective conflict resolution, problem-solving and decision-making skills. 

  • > Interpersonal skills for problem solving and relationship building with internal and
          external participants, staff, parents.
     

  • > Experience working in vocational, educational programs an asset. 

  • > Recreational and programming experience required

  • >Co-operation; requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a
          good-natured cooperative attitude. 

  • >Must have valid driver’s license and must have own vehicle

Shifts consist of a rotation of Monday to Friday, mainly weekday 8 hour shifts, with occasional evenings & weekends.

This programming includes planning, implementing and evaluating recreation, social and educational programs.


Shifts consist of a rotation of Monday to Friday for 4 months, then rotate to Tuesday to Saturday for 4 months, shift consist normally of 8 hours.

ICSS is currently looking for Community Participation Worker(s) for the Spread the Joy Social Enterprise Program to provide individual and group recreational programming for the purpose of providing meaningful programs to people with a developmental disability and enabling them to attain their maximum physical, social, and mental well-being. The mission and goal for social enterprise is to help adults with a developmental disability or dual diagnosis to work towards their self-directed goals, achieve income security, reduce social isolation, increase community participation and experience meaningful programs. Workers must be able to work with participants who have unique barriers to employment, and must use out-of-the-box thinking to develop appropriate teaching techniques to help participants succeed in the social enterprise ventures.


Shifts consist of a rotation of Monday to Friday, mainly weekday 8 hour shifts, with occasional evenings & weekends.
